Norfloxacin is a synthetic chemotherapeutic agent occasionally used to treat common as well as complicated urinary tract infections. This drug is considered as a last resort option due to its potentially life-threatening side effects. Its mechanism of action is the inhibition of DNA gyrase, and it has been shown to inhibit mammalian DNA replication enzymes.
