Description

Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) is a cytokine that binds to TNFRSF1A/TNFR1 and TNFRSF1B/TNFBR. TNF is secreted by macrophages, monocytes, neutrophils, T-cells, and NK-cells following their stimulation by bacterial LPS. Cells expressing CD4 secrete TNF-alpha while CD8 cells secrete little or no TNF-alpha. The synthesis of TNF-alpha is induced by many different stimuli including interferons, IL2, GM-CSF. It is a potent pyrogen causing fever by direct action or by stimulation of interleukin-1 secretion and is implicated in the induction of cachexia. Recombinant rat TNF-alpha produced in E. coli is a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 157 amino acids with a MW of 17,339.44 Da.

Format

Each vial contains 20 ug protein lyophilized in 5 mM sodium phosphate pH7.5, 50 mM NaCl. Reconstitute with 0.2 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.

Purity

Application Notes

Rat TNF-alpha is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by the cytolysis of mouse L929 cells in the presence of Actinomycin D is < 0.05ng/ml.

Storage

Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
