Pure Hippeastrum hybrid lectin (HHA) from amaryllis, FITC conjugated.||Lectins are derived from the extracts of plants, animals, viruses and microorganisms and are known to agglutinate red blood cells. These agglutinins can select cell types according to blood group activities utilizing sugar-binding mechanisms. ||Lectins form precipitates with glycoconjugates and are useful for identifying or separating oligosaccharides with identical sugar compositions such as galactose, mannose or glucose.||Carbohydrate Specificity: |a- Mannose||Inhibitory Carbohydrate: |alpha (1,3) or alpha (1,6) linked mannosyl units||Activity: |Agglutinate rabbit but not human erythrocytes.||Excitation:|Maximum at 495-550nm||Emission:|Maximum at 514-521nm||Storage and Stability:|Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 6 months after receipt. Caution: FITC conjugates are sensitive to light. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
