-20°CNeurofilaments are the intermediate filaments found in neuronal cells. They are composed of a combination of subunit proteins which typically includes the neurofilment triplet proteins, NF-L (68kD), NF-M (160kD), and NF-H (200kD). Neurofilaments may also include peripherin, alpha-internexin (NF66), nestin, and vimentin. Antibodies to the various neurofilament subunits are useful biomarkers; the filaments are abundant and biochemically stable. The expression of neurofilament proteins varies during neuronal development and differentiation and between between neuronal cell subtypes, and altered in pathological states. Accumulation of neurofilaments is observed the progression of numerous neurological diseases.||Applications:|Suitable for use in Western Blot.
