QKI7 is a member of the Signal Transduction and Activation of RNA proteins (STAR proteins) family. QKI5, QKI6, QKI7 and QKI7b are alternatively spliced mRNAs from the QKI1 gene. QKI7 is a RNA-binding protein. QKI6 has roles in the regulation of splicing, export and stability of mRNA. It is involved in myelinization. It is a cytoplasmic isoform. Diseases associated with this gene include Angiocentric Glioma, 6Q Terminal Deletion Syndrome and Schizophrenia.
