Specifications

Product Data
Applications ELISA, FN, IP, WB
Recommended Dilution ELISA.
Western Blot: This antibody cross reacts with IFN beta in western blots but does not show any cross reactivity with IFN gamma; this antibdoy detects a band of approximately 19kDa.
Functional Assays.
Immunoprecipitation.
Reactivities Chicken
Host Rabbit
Isotype IgG
Clonality Polyclonal
Immunogen Recombinant chicken Interferon alpha.
Specificity This antibody recognizes Interferon alpha (chIFN-alpha). In bioassays, this antiserum neutralizes chIFN-alpha, but not chIFN-beta, and can therefore be used to discriminate IFN alpha and IFN beta bioactivities. Product SA027 is the immunogen used to produce this antibody.
Formulation PBS
State: Azide Free
State: Liquid purified IgG
Stabilizer: None
Preservative: None
Concentration lot specific
Purification Affinity chromatography on protein G
Conjugation Unconjugated
Storage Upon receipt, store undiluted (in aliquots) at -20°C.
Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Stability Shelf life: one year from despatch.
Background The classification of mammalian cytokines with antiviral activity, is well documented as being either Type I Interferon (IFNI) or Type II Interferon (IFNII). This is not the case for avian IFNs however, even though IFN was first detected in the chicken. A growing number of functional studies indicate similarities between chicken IFN and mammalian IFNI, revealing the conservation of cysteine residues and the existence of around ten closely related intron-less IFN alpha genes. Further research has shown that chIFN-alpha genes are strongly expressed following viral infection of monocyte-derived macrophage and embryo fibroblasts and that recombinant chicken IFN acts as a potent antiviral agent.
Synonyms B Cell Interferon, IFN-alpha, IFNA, Interferon-alpha, Leukocyte Interferon, Type I Interferon
