Fallopian tube cDNA
The fallopian tubes are part of the female reproductive system. They are also called the uterine tubes or oviducts. Their role is to receive the egg from the ovary and bring it to the uterus. The fallopian tubes are located on either side of the uterus and connect the uterus to the ovaries. The fallopian tubes play an essential role in reproduction because they are the place where the eggs are fertilized. The fallopian tubes are composed of several parts: the uterine part located in the myometrium, the isthmus, or isthmic part, located in the prolongation of the uterine part, the tubal ampulla and the funnel-shaped pavilion which covers the ovary allowing the reception of the ovum. The inner wall of the fallopian tubes is narrow, wrinkled and covered with ciliated cells. For about six days, the eggs travel through the tube to the uterus, pushed by the cilia of the epithelium. Their progress is determined by the movements of the tube and its lining.
