NTRK2 probe for ISH CE/IVD - Brain and neural pathology
NTRK2 (Neurotrophic Receptor Tyrosine Kinase 2) gene encodes a member of the neurotrophic tyrosine receptor kinase (NTRK) family. This kinase is a membrane-bound receptor that, upon neurotrophin binding, phosphorylates itself and members of the MAPK pathway. Signalling through this kinase leads to cell differentiation. Mutations in this gene have been associated with obesity and mood disorders. NTRK2 is altered by mutation or chromosomal rearrangement in a diverse range of cancers. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
Fusions, missense, nonsense, and silent mutations of NTRK2 gene are observed in cancers such as intestinal cancer, skin cancer, and stomach cancer. NTRK2 is altered in 1.27% of all cancers with lung adenocarcinoma, colon adenocarcinoma, cutaneous melanoma, endometrial endometrioid adenocarcinoma, and bladder urothelial carcinoma having the greatest prevalence of alterations.
