Homogenizers
Homogenizers, also known as bead beaters, are used to break down samples, such as tissues, cells, or microorganisms, before PCR amplification. Homogenizers work by shaking or stirring samples with small beads or balls, which break down the sample and release DNA for amplification. Homogenizers are particularly useful for difficult-to-lyse samples, such as bacterial spores or fungi.
