24-well cell culture plates are essential tools in biological research, providing a platform for studying cell behavior, drug screening, and various other applications. These plates are typically made of high-quality plastic polymers like polystyrene, which offer a sterile and biocompatible environment for cell growth. The design of 24-well plates allows for multiple samples to be cultured simultaneously in separate wells, enabling researchers to conduct experiments efficiently and in a high-throughput manner.
Each well in a 24-well plate is designed with specific features to support cell growth and experimentation. For instance, some plates have a flattened, raised ring in each well to reduce cross-contamination, while others may feature a deep-well design to control contamination, reduce evaporation, and minimize edge effects. Additionally, certain plates come with a single-position lid or vents to create a controlled environment for cell culture.
Moreover, 24-well plates come in various formats and surface treatments, such as non-treated, tissue culture (TC)-treated, or with specialized coatings like Primaria™ treatment. These plates are compatible with a wide range of cell types, including adherent and suspension cells, making them versatile tools for studying diverse biological processes. The plates are also available with different well shapes and bottom types, such as flat, clear, or black walls, to suit various experimental needs.
