Cadherins are members of a multigene family of single chain glycoprotein receptors mediating Ca2+-dependent cell-cell adhesion(1,2,3). The N-terminal part of these molecules is exposed on the external cell surface and contains the putative homophilic binding sites. This is followed by a typical single transmembrane sequence and usually a cytoplasmic C-terminal tail which mediates interaction with the microfilament system|through molecules such as catenins, plakoglobin, vinculin, and alpha-actinin.||Applications: |Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested.||Recommended Dilutions:|Western Blot: 1:1000-1:2000|Immunofluorescence: 1:500-1:1000 on cultured cells using methanol/acetone fixation|Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 1:500-1:1000|Immunohistochemistry: Frozen|Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.||Storage and Stability:|May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
