Ribonucleic acids are long-chain polymers of nucleotides linked through 3',5'-phosphodiester bonds. Constituent bases are derivatives of purine and pyrimidines, the sugar is D-ribose. The RNA nucleotide sequence, which is genetic information transferred from DNA, acts as a template in sequencing amino acids in protein synthesis.||MS2 RNA is a linear molecule of 3,569 nucleotides with a molecular weight of 1.2x10e6. The RNA from bacteriophage MS2 has been extensively studied as natural RNA in vivo and in vitro protein synthesis. Many of the single steps in initiation, elongation and termination of polypeptide synthesis have been worked out using MS2 RNA. The nucleotide sequence of MS2 RNA has been established facilitating structural and functional studies.||MS2 RNA contains genetic information to specify three viral proteins: A-protein (structural), coat protein (structural) and replicase. It contains a high degree of secondary structure.||Appearance:|Colorless solution||Size:|3569bp||RNA Quantity:|20 (A260) units/ml |1 A260 unit of of RNA is ~40ug||Quality Control:|• Protein Free|• Free from host RNA and DNA|• Not capped||Product Performance:|• Avoid denaturing agents (e.g. formaldehyde).|• Use in 2% agarose gel under native conditions only.||Storage and Stability:|Stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. Avoid contamination with RNase from bacteria or human skin. Avoid repeated freeze-thawing. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
