Glutathione Peroxidase (GSH-PX) is an important enzyme that catalyzes decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. GSH specifically catalyze the reaction between GSH and hydrogen peroxide, protecting cell membrane structure and keeping membrane function integrity. Se-cysteine is the active center of the GSH-PX.
