Recombinant Active Protein
Cat. No.
600173
Unit
0.05 mg
Description

TNF (Tumor necrosis factor) is secreted by macrophages, monocytes, neutrophils, T-cells, and NK-cells following their stimulation by bacterial LPS. Cells expressing CD4 secrete TNF-alpha while CD8 cells secrete little or no TNF-alpha. The synthesis of TNF-alpha is induced by many different stimuli including interferons, IL2, and GM-CSF. Genetic variations in TNF are associated with susceptibility to psoriasis and hepatitis B virus infection. Recombinant Human Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha produced in E. coli is a single non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 158 amino acids with a MW of 17,483.77 Da.

Each vial contains 50 ug protein lyophilized in 10 mM sodium phosphate pH8.0, 20 mM NaCl. Reconstitute with 0.5 ml sterile deionized water for a final concentration of 0.1 mg/ml.
Alternate Names

Source
E. coli. Endotoxin level as measured by LAL is <0.01ng/ug or <0.1EU/ug.
Purity
Purity > 98% as determined by RP-HPLC and reducing and non-reducing SDS-PAGE. Protein Content determined by UV spectroscopy at 280 nm and analysis by RP-HPLC calibrated against a known standard. Quantitation on SDS-PAGE against a known standard.
Application Notes
Recombinant Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha is fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 as determined by the cytolysis of mouse L929 cells in the presence of Actinomycin D is less than 0.05 ng/ml.
Storage
Store at -20°C. Product is guaranteed one year from the date of shipment. Following reconstitution, store at -20°C. We recommend to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) for long term storage.
