Rat
Conjugated Peptide
Anti-GABA Transporter 2 Antibody was produced in rabbit by repeated immunizations with synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid residues from the C-terminal region conjugated to KLH.
Anti-GAT2 antibody is directed against rat GAT2 protein. GABA Transporter 2 antibodies are affinity purified from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity purification. Reactivity is expected from the following species based on 100% sequence homology: mouse.
P31646 - UniProtKB
NP_598307.1 - NCBI Protein
Application Details
IHC, WB
Anti-GAT2 (Rabbit) Antibody is tested for use in WB and IHC. Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user. GAT2 antibody is specific for the approximately 82 kDa in size GABA Transporter 2 protein.

Background
GAT2 Antibody detects rat GAT2 protein. Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, causing a hyperpolarization of the membrane through the opening of a Cl− channel associated with the GABAA receptor (GABAA-R) subtype. GABA plasma membrane transporters (GATs) influence synaptic neurotransmission by high-affinity uptake and release of GABA. To date, four distinct GABA transporters have been identified: GAT-1, GAT-2, GAT-3, and BGT-1. GAT-2 is found in a wide range of neuronal and non-neuronal cells including dendrites and axon terminals as well as epithelial cells and cells forming the pia and arachnoid complex. Anti-GAT2 Antibody is ideal for investigators involved in Neuroscience.
