Plant tissue culture couldn’t be practiced without sterile vessels to hold your media and plant material. One of the most import things when working in plant tissue culture is the culture vessels that one uses. Plant tissue will grow inside these vessels, mostly under sterile circumstances as no contaminants are allowed inside the vessels. Culture vessels provide a contamination barrier to protect the cultures from the external environment while maintaining the proper internal environment. For anchorage-dependent cells, the vessels provide a suitable and consistent substrate for cell attachment. The advantage of plastic containers is that you can choose between a sterile single-use container or a sterilizable container for reuse at a lower cost. For sterilisation and long-term use, however, it is preferable to use glass vessels.
