Crucial component of culture media that serves as a major energy source for cells in culture. Glutamine provides the necessary nitrogen, carbon and the reducing equivalents required for cell growth and division during cell culture.
L-glutamine degrades relatively rapidly in liquid media or stock solutions. Therefore, optimal cell performance usually requires supplementation of the media with L-glutamine prior to use.
