Description

Recombinant Proteinase K is a serine protease that cleaves the carboxy-terminated peptide bonds of aliphatic and aromatic amino acids. Recombinant Proteinase K can be used to digest proteins and remove contamination from nucleic acid preparations[1].

In Vitro

Proteinase K digestion[1]
1. Cells are resuspended in lysis bufferand finally lysed on ice for 15 minutes.
2. The crude lysates are obtained by centrifugation at 4°C for 15 minutes. Proteinase K is added to a 20 μl aliquot to get the final concentrations of 2, 4 and 8 μg/ml. Reactions are carried out at 37°C for 30 minutes.

MedChemExpress (MCE) has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.

Help & FAQs
  • Do most proteins show cross-species activity?

Species cross-reactivity must be investigated individually for each product. Many human cytokines will produce a nice response in mouse cell lines, and many mouse proteins will show activity on human cells. Other proteins may have a lower specific activity when used in the opposite species.
