This lectin has a molecular weight of 40,000-46,000 and is composed of four subunits. There appear to be two different chains in combinations giving rise to five isolectins. The isoelectric point of this lectin is pH 4.7, and it is probably devoid of carbohydrate or metal ions. The carbohydrate specificity of either type of subunit is likely to be the same, preferring alpha linked N-acetylgalactosamine structures.||Applications: |User-determined||Inhibiting Sugar: |500mM galactose||Storage and Stability:|Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile buffer. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
