VVL consists of A and B subunits, with a dominant isolectin that appears to be B subunit-rich. A4 isolectin agglutinates specifically A1 erythrocytes. B4 isolectin does not agglutinate A, B, or O-erythrocytes; however, B4 binds the Tn antigen, a molecule expressed on the surface of most tumor cells. A2B2 and similar tetramer isolectins display properties characteristic of both A4 and B4 isolections.||Cy3 can be used to visualize the binding pattern of Vicia villosa Lectin (VVL/VVA) in cellular imaging and flow cytometry. Cy3 is more photostable than many other fluorophores and can be seen with TRITC filter sets. It is commonly combined with green-fluorescent dyes for dual-labeling||Source:|Hairy vetch||Sugar Specificity:|N-Acetylgalactosamine||Inhibitory Carbohydrate:|N-Acetylgalactosamine||Fluorescence:|Dark red||Divalent Ions:|Ca++, Mn++||Excitation:|550nm||Emission:|570nm||Storage and Stability:|May be stored at 4°C. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at 4°C. Do not freeze. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. CY3 conjugates are sensitive to light.
