Alicia blue is a cationic dye, which is the most specific dye for acidic mucus substances. The dye and the acid group can form a salt bond. Using the different pH of the dye and the different electrolyte concentration, the types of acidic mucus substances can be distinguished.

OriCellTM Alicia Blue Staining Solution can react with acidic mucopolysaccharides to give a blue color in the chondrogenesis experiment.
