CA 15-3 (or MUC1) is the most widely used serum marker in breast cancer. MUC1 appears to play a role in cell adhesion and the high levels present in cancer may be causally involved in metastasis. MUC1 is a large transmembrane glycoprotein which is frequently overexpressed and aberrantly glycosylated in cancer. CA 15-3 is a preclinicla marker for recurrent breast cancer and is used to monitor treatment of patients with advanced breast cancer.||Applications: |Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested.||Recommended Dilutions:|Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.||Storage and Stability:|May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
