Quality Control & Documentation
Biological Activity
Interferon-beta (IFN beta) is an extracellular protein mediator of host defense and homeostasis. IFN beta has well-established direct antiviral, antiproliferative, and immunomodulatory properties. Recombinant IFN beta is approved for the treatment of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis.
Measured in antiviral assays using L929 cells infected with vesicular stomatitisvirus (VSV). The ED50 for this effect is 3-18 pg/mL.
The recombinant mouse IFNB1 consists of 166 amino acids and has a calculated molecular mass of 20.3 kDa.
Lyophilized from sterile PBS, pH 7.4.
