TNFa, also known as tumor necrosis factor, binds to TNFRSF1A/TNFR1 and TNFRSF1B/TNFBR. It is mainly secreted by macrophages and can induce cell death of certain tumor cell lines. It is potent pyrogen causing fever by direct action or by stimulation of interleukin-1 secretion and is implicated in the induction of cachexia. ||Source:|Recombinant protein corresponding to aa80-235 from mouse TNFa, was expressed in E. coli.||Molecular Weight: |~17.4kD (157aa), confirmed by MALDI-TOF||Endotoxin: |<1EU/1ug (determined by LAL method)||Biological Activity:|Measured in a cytotoxicity assay using L929 mouse fibrosarcoma cells in the presence of the metabolic inhibitor actinomycin D.
