Biologische vloeistoffen
Biologische vloeistoffen of lichaamsvloeistoffen zijn alle vloeistoffen in het lichaam die helpen bij het transport van voedingsstoffen of het afvoeren van afvalstoffen uit de cellen. De meest voorkomende lichaamsvloeistoffen zijn bloed, speeksel, sperma, vaginaal vocht, slijm en urine. Er zijn echter nog veel meer biologische vloeistoffen.
Er zijn 3 hoofdtypen biologische vloeistoffen: intravasculaire biologische vloeistoffen, interstitiële biologische vloeistoffen en intracellulaire biologische vloeistoffen. Extracellulaire vloeistof is de lichaamsvloeistof buiten de cel(len). Intravasculaire vloeistof (bloedplasma), interstitiële vloeistof, lymfe en transcellulaire vloeistof vormen de extracellulaire vloeistof. Interstitiële vloeistof, d.w.z. de vloeistof die de ruimten tussen de cellen vult, is het belangrijkste bestanddeel, terwijl transcellulaire vloeistof, d.w.z. de vloeistof die de ruimten vult in de kamers gevormd door de epitheliale celbekleding, het minst belangrijk is. Intracellulaire vloeistof is de lichaamsvloeistof binnenin de cel(len).
