BHI Agar is currently recommended as a general medium for aerobic bacteria and for the primary recovery of fungi from clinical specimens. BHI Agar, with 10% Sheep Blood can be used to isolate systemic fungi that may grow poorly on nonenriched media. A high recovery rate for Histoplasma capsulatum can be obtained with the addition of horse blood to the medium.||Appearance:|Beige homogeneous, free flowing powder||Solubility: |Trace to slight haze, light to medium amber||pH (5.2%, 25°C):|7.4±0.2||Microbiological Analysis:|Aspergillus brasiliensis ATCC 16404: Growth|Candida albicans ATCC 10231: Growth|Escherichia coli ATCC 25922: Growth|Neisseria meningitides ATCC 13090: Growth|Saccharomyces cerevisiae ATCC 9763: Growth|Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923: Growth|Streptococcus pneumoniae ATCC 6305: Growth|Streptococcus pyogenes ATCC19615: Growth||Important Note: |This product as supplied is intended for research use only, not for use in human, therapeutic or diagnostic applications without the expressed written authorization of United States Biological.
