To achieve excellent imaging with a differential interference contrast (DIC) microscope, all elements in the optical path must be compatible with DIC microscopy. They must have low birefringence, which means that there is little interference with the polarised light. A single incompatible element in the beam path of the transmitted light would destroy the orientation of the polarised light, which would disrupt the imaging effect of differential interference contrast (DIC) microscopy. By using the ibidi µ-Slides combined with the special DIC covers for µ-Slides, excellent DIC images can be generated.
