| Background | DSCR1 protein influences cardiac and nervous system development (1). DSCR1 is abundant in the brain, heart, and skeletal muscle. Overexpression of DSCR1 may play a role in the pathogenesis of Down syndrome, in particular mental retardation and/or cardiac defects.
