A recombinant proteinase K from Tritirachium album expressed in Pichia pastoris.
Subtilisin-related serine protease with a very high specific activity and a broad spectrum of action. It is widely used for digestion of proteins, including DNases and RNases during nucleic acid preparations without compromising the integrity of the isolated DNA or RNA.
During production of the recombinant enzyme almost all nucleic acids are removed. Therefore it is especially suitable for PCR reactions.
Free of endonucleases, exonucleases and ribonucleases. DNA: ≤10 pg/mg enzyme
Unit definition: One unit will hydrolyze urea-denatured 2 % hemoglobin to produce color equivalent 1 µmol of tyrosine per minute at pH 7.5 at 37 °C (color by Folin & Ciocalteu's Phenol Reagent).
